"Shadowed Victory" by Arthur Stringer is a poem in which the author narrates the story of a young man, Hugh. Rushing to join the war efforts, Hugh leaves behind his friend, Clyde, who has opted to stay behind to work the fields, and provide food for the troops. During each battle, the lives of both these men and the work they provide for their country are explored in great detail, showing that, no matter where one is, war affects all.
