'Castles in the Air' is an adventure-humor novel written by Baroness Orczy. The story follows the exploits of a man named Hector Ratichon, who for twenty years has served France's government from the days of Louis XVI to those of Napoleon Bonaparte. He introduces himself with the claim that "For the past two years, I can only repeat that no one, in the whole of France, has been so useful or so zealous in tracking criminals, nosing out conspiracies, or denouncing traitors as I have been."
